Great British Desserts
Following the success of Miss American Pie, we thought that after all we were the Mother Country and we too have traditional desserts – and so, ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to present our own pocket-puds in a pouch.
Take your pick or mix and match. Either way, victory will be sweet.
STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING
ABBD101
Supposedly brought to England in the 1940s by the Canadian Air Force. We salute the combination of toffee pieces and chopped dates that has taken British puddings to a new height.
RHUBARB CUSTARD CRUMBLE
ABBD102
Rhubarb, a vegetable, was first forced in the 1840s, and then it caught on as a ‘fruit’ for crumbles. We freely appreciate how sweetly the rhubarb pieces and juice and vanilla come together.
STRAWBERRY & MERINGUE ETON MESS
ABBD103
Eton Mess was served at the cricket match with Harrow School, first played in 1805. We are bowled over by the team of clotted cream, real strawberry juice and meringue pieces.
CHERRY & ALMOND BAKEWELL TART
ABBD104
Created in the 19th century by the landlady of the White Horse Inn in the Derbyshire market town of Bakewell. We are dining out on the combination of morello cherries and almond oil.
